Irish Traditions



Saint Patrick is the patron of Ireland. In Saint Patrick's day Irish people wear green clothes and drink beer. They wear green clothes because these clothes are like the green fields and trees of Ireland. This celebration is on the 17th of March. They celebrate the day that Irish people went to the United States of America. They went to live in cities like Philadelphia, Boston and New York City. People there also celebrate this day.





Saint Brigid (Brid) is the second patron of Ireland. Irish people put Saint Brigid's crosses in their houses to prevent from fire. This celebration is on the 1st of February which is the begining of the spring.

Curiosities

In Ireland is very popular to drink tea in the afternoon.
They usually eat cooked dishes for breakfast and at lunchtime they usually eat a packet-lunch (sandwich, a piece of fruit and a fizzy drink). They have dinner very early.
They are quite religious.
